Jack Johnson Twice-Signed Expression (As Champion)

Jack Johnson Twice-Signed Expression (As Champion)

On December 26, 1908 in Sydney, Australia, Jack Johnson shocked the world when he stopped World Heavyweight Champion Tommy Burns in the 14th round of their fight for the title. Johnson became the first African-American to win this coveted prize. Presented here is an original, hand-written and twice-signed note from Johnson. It measures 3.5" x 4.5" and the paper shows just minor wear. The content is to a friend with whom Johnson hopes to meet soon. Clean and signed in blue ink. Written in 1915 shortly after Johnson lost the heavyweight title to Jess Willard.
