Cardboard advertising sign is a great product of Jess Willard's KO of the first black Heavyweight Champion of the World, Jack Johnson. The ever flashy and controversial Johnson had previously held the title for over 6 years. The image is a 37-year-old Jack Johnson lying flat on the canvas, after being leveled by the Great White Hope in the 26th round. Photo is mounted on thick heavy board with "Bouvier, the original Buchu Gin" in black lettering on the canvas. Printed in lower left corner: "Jack Johnson knocked out by Jess Willard, Havana, Cuba. April 5, 1915. 26th round." Some slight paper loss to the edges, otherwise perfect. VG-EX.
