Jack Lang’s Personal New York Yankees Presentational Bats (3) and a 1999 Team of the Century Bat
Three commemorative baseball bats presented by the Yankees organization to Jack Lang, a past president of the Baseball Writers Association of America and a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame. The first bat commemorates the Yankees 1977 World Championship. This Adirondack 302F has Lang’s name on the barrel and a 3” x 2 ?” plaque nailed to the bat which reads “New York Yankees World Champions 1977 Defeated L.A. Dodgers Four Games To Two”. The second item was presented to Lang after the Bombers 1978 World Series win. This 33” Adirondack 302F also bears Lang’s name and has an identical sized plaque reading, “New York Yankees 1978 World Champions Second Consecutive Year Defeated L.A. Dodgers 4 Games to 2 Games.” The third piece of lumber is the identical model to the first two but has a plaque commemorating the Yankees 1981 American League pennant and lists their record during that season. The final bat in this collection, not from Lang, is a Louisville Slugger 180 model wfrom 1999 with the number 4 etched into the knob. It is engraved with the words “Team of the Century, New York Yankees, Limited 1 of 100”. Overall EX-MT to NRMT.
