Jackie Robinson Signed and Inscribed Baseball (PSA)

Jackie Robinson Signed and Inscribed Baseball (PSA)

Jackie Robinson was a superb baseball player who became one of the foremost civil rights figures in American history. Displayed is a wonderful Jackie Robinson single-signed and inscribed baseball. Because of baseball's unofficial "Color Line," Robinson was forced to wait until he was 28 years old until he could become the first modern African American in baseball history. An amazing athlete who is still the only athlete to letter in four sports at UCLA, Robinson was the leading scorer in basketball in UCLA's division, and a great football star who led the nation in punt return average in both 1939 and '40. In track and field, he won the nation's long jump title in 1940. Amazingly, baseball was his worst sport at UCLA. Robinson's first Major League season was in 1947, and the Brooklyn Dodgers star won the National League's Rookie of the Year Award as he hit .297, led the National League in stolen bases with 29, and helped the Dodgers to the pennant. Robinson's best Major League season was 1949, when he led the National League in batting average (.342) and stolen bases (39), took the Dodgers to another pennant and was named the NL MVP. Robinson also was a player on the 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers World Champions, the only Brooklyn Dodger team to ever win the World Series. Robinson finished his career with a .311 National League average. The baseball is an Official National League Baseball (Giles). Robinson has neatly signed and inscribed the ball in blue ink. On a side panel, Robinson wrote, "To Joe/With best wishes and sincere thanks for everything/Jackie Robinson." The ball is in excellent condition, with some slight darkening from the passage of time. The prized ball comes with a PSA Letter of Authenticity.
