Jackie Robinson Single-Signed Baseball (PSA)
Retail baseball signed and dated on a side panel by Jackie Robinson: "4/48/62 - Best Wishes to Stefan - Jackie Robinson." Robinson's signature and inscription have been scripted in green ink, grading 8/10. This ball comes with outstanding provenance, as the "Stefan" to whom this ball is addressed is none other than our consignor, who obtained it in person. Our consignor's father worked at Gimbel's department store in New York at the time, and he brought Stefan to work with him one day when he learned that Jackie Robinson was making a promotional appearance in the store's sports department. Meeting Robinson in person was one of our consignor's great childhood thrills, with this ball a tangible reminder of that cherished memory. A protective layer of a shellac-like material has been applied to the signature panel, but the signature remains bold and bright. The manufacturer's stampings have faded beyond legibility and the ball displays light soiling. In Very Good condition overall. The demand for Jackie Robinson single-signed baseballs has always exceeded the limited supply, making this both an attractive and highly desirable example. Full LOA from PSA.
