James J. Corbett Signed Studio Photograph (8x10")
The subject of this original studio photo is James J. Corbett, as he appeared after his illustrious boxing career. In period dress, he appears as gentlemanly as his fabled story states. The inscription and signature are remarkable and bold in thick black fountain ink: “To my friend H.S. Hera, with best regards, Jas J. Corbett - April 27/30.” Grades “9” out of a possible 10. Some minor creasing towards the top of the photo and some scrapbook damage to top edge, which is not visible with the matting. Otherwise EX.
