Janis Joplin & Others Bill Graham Posters (14)
Vintage posters from rock’s psychedelic late ‘60s, featuring the likes of Janis Joplin & Big Brother, the Doors, Them, Steppenwolf, The Youngbloods, and -- on a marvelous and rare black & silver poster for a Nov. 9, 1960 Oakland Coliseum gig -- the Rolling Stones. Vivid, vibrant, full-sized (generally 14 x 20”) posters in the familiar swirling lines or comic book style, used and in some cases copyrighted by promoter Bill Graham for concerts mostly at the Fillmore and Avalon Ballroom. Features original artwork by pop culture artists of the era such as Wes Wilson, John Thompson and Family Dog Productions. All stunning, with the most unique a 10.5 x 24” poster for a Big Brother-Bo Diddley gig at the Avalon in the shape of a dollar bill, with the center image of an Indian and the legend: “May the Baby Jesus shut your mouth and open your eyes.” All posters VG-MT, with the Stones one pristine. A mixed bag of ‘60s rock. Break out a bottle of Yago and enjoy!!
