J.D. Salinger Signed Receipt

J.D. Salinger Signed Receipt

It's not every day one of these pieces of J.D. Salinger detritus turns up. Maybe once every three decades. Salinger of course is one of the world's most famous recluses. One recent sighting of the Catcher in the Rye" author is confirmed by this May 15, 2002 from the Dartmouth Bookstore in Hanover, New Hampshire, close to his reputed longtime home of Cornish. The receipt reveals that Salinger and his wife Colleen, "bookclub members 79730", purchased "Courtesans and Fishcakes" for $8. Salinger's signature in black pen is strong and vivid, through appropriately somewhat unrecognizeable save for the distinctive "J". Receipt is MT.
