On April 27, 1968, at the Coliseum Arena in Oakland, California, heavyweights Jerry Quarry and Jimmy Ellis battled for the vacant WBA heavyweight title, with Ellis earning a close majority decision to win the championship. Offered here is an original, on site poster for this event, featuring LeRoy Neiman renditions of each fighter. Bold color and print with clear images, the poster is not creased, but displays several compressions from handling. Has small tack holes on perimeter, tape residue and slight paper loss on perimeter from mounting, edge and corner wear and a closed tear on left edge with no paper loss. Measures 14" x 22" - a very seldom seen championship on site poster.
