JFK "Happy Birthday Mr. President" Marilyn Monroe Handbill
One of the singularly earth shattering moments featured sex siren Marilyn Monroe singing "Happy Birthday Mr. President" to the most powerful man in the world. This rare handbill trumpets: "New York's Birthday Salute to President Kennedy" at the top and boldly promises to be the "most exciting program ever staged." It was, in fact as Monroe squeezed into a rhinestone-studded Jean Louis dress and sang to JFK. She is advertised on the bill among many other A-list celebrities, but all we remember is the incredible footage of a performance more famous and iconic than any movie role including "Some Like It Hot." It was a complete surprise that Marilyn would steal the show. Measures 9x6" and is folded but otherwise NRMT. Few knew at the time of the supposed infamous sexual liaison of Marilyn Monroe and the President of the Free World, and memorabilia related to this frozen moment simply does not exist except for this piece and a handful of others.
