Jim Kaat 1970 Twins Game Worn Flannel Jersey
Kitty Kaat seemed to have more than 9 lives in baseball, setting a record by pitching 25 years from 1959 to 1983. Here's how far back Kaat went -- he pitched for the original Washington baseball team, which of course moved to Minnesota in '61. Though overall he won 283 games and 4530 innings, his best seasons were spent in that Twins uniform, from '61 to '73, with a 25-win year in '66. This vintage gray flannel jersey worn by Kaat in '70 is a plain and simple gem, with "Twins" stitched across the chest and "36" on the verso in navy on red tackle twill. Rare period Twins patch on the left sleeve. "Kaat" is chain-stitched in blue on a sewn-in label in the neck and "Kaat 36 48 70 Set 2" is chain-stitched onto the flannel on the lower left front tail above the "Spadling" and size "48" tags. Shirt has a hint of very slight yellowing here and there but is nearly pristine with no repairs or damage. No throwback stuff here. An authentic Twins flannel and a terrific display piece.
