Jim Thome Cleveland Indians Rookie Era Game Used Batting Helmet

Jim Thome Cleveland Indians Rookie Era Game Used Batting Helmet

Jim Thome, with 612 round-trip blasts, has the eighth most home runs of any player in baseball history. Presented is the opportunity to possess a game used Cleveland Indians Jim Thome rookie era batting helmet. The Hall of Fame corner infielder and DH played Major League baseball for 22 seasons. He began his Major League time with the Cleveland Indians in 1991 and played there through 2002. In his first year, Thome played in 27 games, had 97 official at bats and hit .255, with one home run. But he was only 20 years old, and he would hit 611 more dingers before he retired. Thome had a remarkable run of homer hitting success when, from 1996 through 2008, he hit at least 30 home runs in 12 of 13 seasons, only falling short in 2005 with the Phillies when he spent much of the season injured. Overall, Thome played from 1991-2012 in the Major Leagues, playing for six teams, with most of his time with Cleveland (13 seasons) and Philadelphia (5 seasons). Thome led the National League in home runs in 2005, as he hit 47 out of the park for Philadelphia. For his career, the 5-time All-Star hit .277. The offered batting helmet is a perfect example from early in Thome's career. It has a "91" year "clock" (a small, plastic circular indicator of year issued) inside near the back of the helmet. The helmet also has a Cleveland Indians' stamp inside. The helmet shows great use. There are numerous scuff marks, scratch marks, and tint spots where paint is lost. It is coated in pine tar. Outside, in front, is a Cleveland Indians' sticker. Also, inside is an American Baseball Cap manufacturer's sticker showing "7 3/8" as the size. An "Authentic Diamond Collectibles" sticker is inside. In addition, a "3/8" is inside, handwritten in white/silver marker by an unknown hand. On the outside back are "25" and "Thome" stickers. Overall, the batting helmet presents as a great game worn helmet showing lots of use by this Hall of Fame slugger.
