Jimmie Foxx Game-Used Bat (PSA 8)
"Double X" was a nine-time All-Star and notorious home run threat, crushing 534 dingers over his Hall of Fame career, primarily with the Philadelphia Athletics and Boston Red Sox. This fine Hillerich & Bradsby pre-model ash bat measures 35", weighs 33.4 oz and was used during the 1939 to 1943 period when Foxx was either with Boston or the Chicago Cubs. The handle was cracked and has since been repaired. There is a subtle notation "Bill" ever so lightly on the knob, indicating it may have been used or owned by someone else after it was initially cracked. There is also some illegible writing on the knob. There is evidence of very nice use, including several ball marks (some white scuffs) and ball stitch impressions on all parts of the barrel. In addition, there are numerous depressions and green bat rack streaks on the top of the barrel. Foxx slugged 30+ home runs in 12 seasons and drove in at least 100 runs for 13 years. He was the first hitter to join the legendary Babe Ruth in the famous 500-Home Run Club.
