Joe Jackson with DA Glass Negative
"Say it ain't so, Joe." This famous quote was uttered to Shoeless Joe Jackson after he testified to throwing the 1919 World Series, along with a number of his teammates. This glass negative, a 4 x 5” photo plate, depicts Jackson posing with Assistant State's Attorney Hartley Replogle at the courthouse, both in formal attire. The negative has a fairly major chip off of the upper left corner, with a minor one in the upper right and scratches throughout. Otherwise, this piece has held up in marvelous condition, with little damage to the center of the plate, where much of the image lies. A great piece of Black Sox lore.
