Perverted pair of these small pornographic comic books that were known as Tijuana Bibles or “eight-pagers” (although the Louis is 10-pages). These were a big thrill at the time. Joe Louis is “The Pride of Harlem” in more ways than one. “Max Smellin” is replete with Nazi symbols and Hitler’s desire for him to go back and get the championship from Louis (likely published right after his 1938 loss to the Brown Bomber).
