Joe Louis and Tony Galento Ring Magazine Original Cover Artwork
On June 28, 1939, World Heavyweight Champion, Joe Louis, defended his title against the rough and tough, brawling bartender “Two Ton” Tony Galento at Yankee Stadium. Galento staggered Louis in the first and put him down in the third. Louis rose and responded with a brutal onslaught on Galento, stopping him in the fourth round. Offered here is the original, Scharre cover artwork from The Ring (Magazine) coverage of the fight depicting both men. Magnificent colors and wonderful likenesses of both fighters.
