Joe Louis vs. Tony Galento Fight Film Poster (1939)
On June 28, 1939, World Heavyweight Champion Joe Louis defended his title against Tony Galento at Yankee Stadium in New York. Galento, a hard punching rough and tumble sort, knocked Louis down early in the fight before he recovered and administered a ferocious beating on "Two Ton" Tony, stopping him in the fourth round. Offered here is a very scarce original poster advertising the viewing of the filming of this fight. This original, paper poter has vivid images of both fighters. Professionally linen-backed. it is not creased or torn while there is minor soiling and restoration at the edges and folds. Bold color and print. One of the better fight film posters from this era measuring 28" x 42".
