Joe Tinker Signed Index Card (PSA)
Index card signed by Hall of Fame shortstop Joe Tinker, who made up one third of the Cubs' legendary double-play combination Tinker-to-Evers-to-Chance. PSA has encapsulated the card and certified the signature as "Authentic." Tinker's signature, which appears on the unlined side of the card, has been scripted in blue fountain pen and grades 7/10. Tinker has added "Cubs" below his name. Tinker's signature is scarce today because he was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1946, but died in 1948, thereby giving Hall of Fame autograph collectors fewer than two years in which obtain his signature. This card is part of a much larger signature collection compiled by our consignor's father in the late 1940s ("The New England Autograph Collection"). All the items from the collection are featured in thirty-one separate lots in this auction, including many prominent Hall of Famer autographs. The index card (5x3") displays typewritten biographical information for Tinker along the top border, as well as a few small surface wrinkles and a tiny area of discoloration in the upper right corner. In Excellent to Mint condition overall.
