John Hancock Signed Document

John Hancock Signed Document

This shipping document, which is dated September 28, 1767, is in John Hancock's own hand, signed in calligraphy by him and then by Maurice Cavenaugh at the bottom. It is for cargo shipped on a "schooner" from Boston to Halifax and is printed and handwritten in the truest and most formal language of the day. It's a wonderful piece of history and memorabilia not only of one of the country's founding fathers but the shipping industry and the earliest days of Boston's history.
