Johnny VanderMeer and Bucky Walters Shutout Game Balls (3)
This fine trio of official National League baseballs were used in the following games and come directly from the players' personal collections. From July 8, 1938, there's a baseball used by six-time All-Star Bucky Walters to shut out the Cubs at Wrigley Field, 11-0. From July 14, 1938, a baseball used by Walters to shut out the Giants at Crosley Field, 1-0, and from July 15, 1941, a baseball used by Johnny Vander Meer to blank the Braves, 3-0 in Boston. This particular ball is mounted on a small pedestal. All three show significant use. The two pitchers combined to toss 71 career shutouts.
