Johnson, Jeffries Large Matted Cabinet Photo
Offered here is an original, large format, first generation photograph depicting the signing of the contract for the Johnson-Jeffries fight on October 29,1909 in New York City. Both fighters are pictured along with other dignitaries like Abe Attell and Sam Berger. The photo is 9.5" x 13" on a mount of 15.5" x 19”. The mount has a crease at upper left corner and rough edges which does not detract from the beauty of the photo. Minor surface wear to photo. This was used as an advertisement for Pommery, the champagne offered at the contract signing and seen on the table in front of the fighters. Beautiful calligraphy notes the event, date and the important people attending. A seldom seen photo from one of boxing's great events.
