Jose Torres Fight Worn Bronzed Glove

Jose Torres Fight Worn Bronzed Glove

The picture perfect physique, the peek-a-boo boxing style, the flashing combinations and the burning body shots are just some of the images conjured when one thinks of Jose Torres. On the evening of the 30th March 1965 the pride of Puerto Rico was more machine than man as he incorporated all of those attributes to systematically dismantle his opponent, Willie Pastrano, for the light heavy weight title. Attached to his lightening quick left hand that night was this glove that has since been bronzed and mounted. To a 12x15” wooden plaque. The engraved bronze plate reads, “Torres-Pastrano Fight, World’s Light Heavy Weight Championship, Madison Square Garden, March 30, 1965”. A portion of the casing has been chipped away around the thumb where also some oxidation has occurred but otherwise EX. LOA from Torres.
