Josephine Baker Serving Tray

Josephine Baker Serving Tray

A timeless classic, this large, tin serving tray is in sepia, with a very famous image of an almost-nude, ravishing Josephine Baker dressed in a skirt made of 16 bananas at the Folies Bergere, dancing in a performance called La Folie du Jour. She was so beautiful and admired by all of Paris and was soon among the most popular and highest-paid performers in Europe. She used her fame and beauty to heroically strike out against racism and for the French Resistance, at times smuggling messages hidden in her sheet music during WWII. The tray is absolutely exceptional, and measures 12" in diameter with gold trim and Art Deco lettering around the sides of her name. Signed by the photographer, and condition is EX-MT.
