Julio Caesar Chavez Fight Worn Trunks
One of the best pound for pound pugilists of the modern era, Julio Caesar Chavez had dominated the lightweight division like few others. On June 7, 1996 he stepped between the ropes to defend his World Junior Welterweight Title against challenger, Oscar de la Hoya. It was during that clash of titans that Chavez donned these teal and black satin “Bertinelli” trunks. Heavily embroidered with “TAESA” in gold thread on the front and back waist, front left hem, and back right and left leg, it continues on with “J.C. Chavez” in black over the crotch and in teal on the side panels. Side panels that are also embellished with black sequins and decorative trim. The trunks, which are signed and dated in black sharpie, display good use after a furious four rounds. And though that evening the “Lion of Culiacan” would be tamed by the “Golden Boy” his place in the boxing history remains unchanged.
