Ken Griffey Jr. 1991-97 Mariners Game Bat (33.75")
Junior swung this baby at least some of the time during his prime years from 1991-97 when he set the baseball world red-hot, banging out so many homers it was hard to keep count (reaching 300 -- and later 400 -- faster than anyone had). As can be seen, Griffey was an avatar of a lighter, smaller bat such as this jet black, 33.75" Louisville Slugger C271 personal model. Compared with truncheons used by McGwire and Sosa, it almost seems like a giveaway on Bat Day, but the power within, melded with Junior's own natural power, sent balls exploding into space. Some of them may have begun with this very bat, which has an aerodynamic carved-out top and "24" handwritten in silver marker on the knob. Light use with a few nicks on the barrel. A splendid Griffey gamer, and an echo of what might have been had he stayed healthy.
