This lot consists of: 1) Original 1961 season contract between the Cubs and Hubbs, signed by John Holland representing the Club but unsigned by Hubbs (likely returned to club in hopes of garnering more than $800/mo). 2) Letter dated January 5, 1961 signed by John Holland which accompanied above contract 3) October 12, 1959 Official Notice of assignment of Hubbs’ contract to the Cubs; includes Certified Mail envelope. 4) September 1, 1960 Notification from Holland to Hubbs that his contract has been recalled by the Club and that he is not to report until Spring Training of ‘61; includes Certified Mail envelope. 5) September 17, 1959 letter from Eulis E. Hubbs to Hillerich & Bradsby Co. (Louisville Slugger) about Hubbs model bats. 6) November 2, 1959 letter from Duke Zilber of Spalding to Hubbs regarding glove use. 7) July 27, 1962 letter from Sy Berger of Topps (and Bazooka Bubble Gum) Chewing Gum to Hubbs which accompanied his $75.00 check and offering items for which he could trade the check. 8) “Glimpse of Greatness” booklet telling the Ken Hubbs Story and information about the Foundation created in his memory. Overall, this lot is in EX-MT condition.
