Kenesaw Mountain Landis Content Letter Including Brooklyn Dodger WWI "Peace Souvenir" (2)
Here is a 1944 letter with original envelope from a serious Brooklyn pacifist who wants them to issue for WWI similar booklets like the one included here. Landis talks in detail about the booklet, but basically blows him off. The very booklet described in the letter is included here - this "Peace Souvenir" compliments of the Brooklyn Baseball Club is similar in design to a program (but no game here). The booklet begins with an image of President Wilson and a love letter for the League of Nations. Then the WWII death toll stats, the war, baseball and beautiful montage images of Brooklyn players who fought with their ranks and branch: Wheat, Robinson, Grimes and more. Ends with a wonderful foldout team photo and "how to reach Ebbets Field" map on verso. The booklet is rough, but pretty much all there and the letter is EX-MT. What a pair!
