Large 16X20 Joe McCarthy and Yankee Players Dedicate "Court of Sport"
Displayed is a large 16.25" x 19.25" photo, signed by Christy Walsh, of Joe DiMaggio and Yankee manager Joe McCarthy, backed by Yankee players, hoisting a large flag to dedicate the "Court of Sport" at the 1938 World's Fair in New York City. The photo was taken on Oct.3, 1938, a day on which the Yankees, playing at Yankee Stadium, won their third straight Series game over the Chicago Cubs, a day before the Yankees would defeat the Cubs again at home to sweep the Series. Hall of Famer Joe DiMaggio batted .328 that season with 32 home runs and 140 RBIs. Hall of Fame manager Joe McCarthy won his third straight World Series with the Yankees. Christy Walsh is often regarded as baseball's first agent, and he handled financial affairs for Babe Ruth and many other sports personages.
