Last Game at Seals Stadium Ticket and Program

Last Game at Seals Stadium Ticket and Program

Before Candlestick Park was constructed, the San Francisco Giants - transplants from New York in 1958 - played their first two seasons at former minor league park Seals Stadium. This 6.5" x 10" program and accompanying ticket come from the final game ever played in that distinct, 29-year-old ballpark that featured no roof (it rarely rained and fans preferred to sit in the sun), three dressing rooms (one for the visitors and one each for the two minor league teams that called it home) and a live seal tank underneath the grandstand. The Giants lost to the rival and eventual World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers, 8-2, on September 20th of that year, and included in this lot is a newspaper account of that historic game at Seals Stadium. The program is scored and the ticket has a small tape stain.
