Last Game Pitched by Walter Johnson Program
Walter Johnson, whom many consider to be the greatest pitcher ever, was the manager of the 1932 Senators. As part of the George Washington Bicentennial celebration, an exhibition game was arranged between The "Big Train's" club and a reassembled 1924 world champion Senators team on August 15, 1932. Johnson pitched three innings for the 1924 team against the 1932 team, and was tagged for the 6-2 loss. The significance of this program is that it is the last game, albeit an exhibition, during which Johnson pitched for the Senators. Although they finished third in the American League in 1932 behind the Yankees and Athletics, the Senators released Johnson at the end of the season, concluding a total of 25 years playing and managing the franchise. This 7" x 11" souvenir program is scored in pencil and is in EX condition.
