Late 1930s Negro Leagues Baltimore Elite Giants Souvenir Bat

Late 1930s Negro Leagues Baltimore Elite Giants Souvenir Bat

The first Negro League souvenir bat we have seen. The 16" Louisville Slugger bat dates from the late 1930s and is an artifact from the Baltimore Elite Giants, the team that incubated the big-league careers of Roy Campanella, Junior Gilliam and Joe Black. “ELITE GIANTS” (which by the way was pronounded "Eee-lite") is stamped in gold on the barrel. Bat shows some wear with a few slight wear spots on the great patina, and the Hillerich & Bradseby trademark is partially worn off. This very rare mini-bat came out of the Baltimore area.
