Late 1950s Oscar Robertson University of Cincinnati Game Worn Jersey

Oscar Robertson is undoubtedly among the pantheon of college basketball players. The Big O almost single-handedly brought the University of Cincinnati to national prominence, taking the Bearcats to two Final Fours in the three years he played for them. Robertson left school as the NCAA's all-time scoring leader, and was an All-American and College Player of the Year in each season. This jersey was worn by Oscar while playing for the Bearcats and was part of his personal collection. He brought it along home with him after one of the seasons, we just aren't sure which one. The white jersey has red and black trim and shows lots of use with some mild staining. It was, at some time over the past 50 years, affected by water, as some of the colors from the original numbering and lettering have transferred to the jersey. The numbering and lettering have since been replaced and restored to their original condition. Although this might make a difference to some collectors, we can assure you that it looks terrific and can only be noticed upon very close inspection; the original stitching marks can be seen when held up to the light and match up perfectly with the reapplication of the numerals and letters. To summarize, this jersey was worn by Oscar during his days at Cincinnati and the jersey itself is all original, however the numbers and letters have been reapplied because of significant water damage to the originals. Only remnants of MacGregor tags at the bottom of the front tail remain, but it is easy to see where they were and to tell that they were of the proper vintage and location. All in all, a fantastic jersey worn by a player of the utmost caliber.
