<p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;margin-bottom:12.0pt;line-height:normal;"><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; color: black;">Late 1970s race suit worn by Hall of Fame driver&nbsp;MarioAndretti.&nbsp;The white suit, with red accent stripes,<span style="font-size: 13px;">the red and blue</span> features a large &ldquo;JohnPlayer Team Lotus/Goodyear&rdquo; patch on the reverse, and a smaller &ldquo;John PlayerTeam Lotus&rdquo; patch on the front left pocket. Additional sponsor patches arethose of &ldquo;Goodyear (large individual patch on reverse, smaller patch on front),&ldquo;Champion&rdquo; (right sleeve), and &ldquo;Worth&rdquo; (left sleeve). Andretti&rsquo;s full name ischain-stitched in red on the left front pocket. The lettering on the white manufacturer&rsquo;slabel has faded beyond legibility. The suit is original as issued, but the &ldquo;JohnPlayer Team Lotus/Goodyear&rdquo; patch on the reverse is partially detached. Moderate-to-heavyuse is displayed throughout, including light staining. Andretti joined Team Lotusin 1976 and helped in the development of the Lotus 77. Riding for John Player TeamLotus from 1976 to 1978, Andretti won the Formula One World Championship in 1978and finished sixth, and third, respectively, in 1976 and 1977. Few athletes inany sport transcend their craft to attain celebrity status, but Mario Andretti didthat in the sport of auto racing over the span of several magnificent decades. Ina testament to his versatility, he remains the only driver to win the Daytona500, Indianapolis 500, and Formula One World Championship, and as such his namebecame synonymous with driving fast for an entire of generation of fans andnon-fans alike. This is an outstanding Andretti race suit dating from theheight of his illustrious career.</span></p>
