Leather Football Helmet with Early Face Mask
Early football headgear was made of padded leather and resembled aviators' helmets. This 1940s Rawlings helmet features a primitive Lucite face mask and shows lots of use. Plastic football helmets were sprouting up around this time, some of which were painted, but this is a nice throwback from a long-gone era.
