Leon Day 1947 Negro League Contract

Leon Day 1947 Negro League Contract

One of four known contracts of this devestating Negro League Hall of Famer. Leon Day's striking out 19 batters in a Puerto Rican League game made him a fan favorite there, as indicated by his $200 salary on this signed 1947 contract. Standard 8 1/2 X 11 inch pact has a stain o/w EX, sigs are NRMT. The "lanzador extranjero" (foreign pitcher") handwritten at the top underscores the league's selective recruiting of the top Negro League talent at the time.
