Lincoln Assassination Newspaper

Lincoln Assassination Newspaper

Original issue of the New York Herald from Saturday, April 15, 1865 covers one of the most remembered moments in our nation's history. Dispatches that appeared throughout the previous day are given as they came in. According to this story, John Wilkes Booth was identified as the assassin by the actors in "Our American Cousin" who knew him from the stage. Other stories include a proclamation by Jefferson Davis, as well as other newsworthy stories as the Civil War came to an end. This paper is well preserved and readable although aged considerably.
