Lot of 8 Vintage Olympic Items Featuring 6 from the 1936 Berlin Olympics
This lot includes a collection of eight items of memorabilia, mainly from the 1936 Berlin Olympics. First there is an Olympic scrapbook entitled "Die XI Olympiade Berlin 1936" containing full-color sports cards of the Olympic athletes in the various sports from the participating countries. The cards are set into the book with photo corners and appears to be a complete set. Next there is a book of Deutiches Reich Olympic postage stamps that includes 20 unused stamps in varying denominations. Third, we have a vintage 9 1/4 x 7" photograph of the reviewing stand at the Berlin Olympics where Hitler can plainly be seen offering a salute. Next is a set of two 9" square cloth handkerchiefs; one features the flags of the Olympic countries and the Olympic rings, the other contains sports motifs from the 1940 Helsinki games. There is also a committee car standard: a 12" Olympic rings pennant encased in plastic and mounted on a 15" metal pole that was placed on the vehicle fenders of high-ranking officials during the Olympics. Next, a 12 1/2 x 8 x 4" hinged metal box reading "Olympicschespiele 1936" on the top and decorated with Olympic event illustrations. The box has some chips in its purple and gold finish but is in otherwise fine condition. Finally, there is a felt Olympic decal measuring 6 1/4" in diameter. It reads "Olympics 1932" and features a set of Olympic rings on a deep blue background. An interesting and varied collection that offers something for everyone.
