Lou Gehrig and Babe Dahlgren Photograph (PSA Type I)

Lou Gehrig and Babe Dahlgren Photograph (PSA Type I)

Significant history in this circa 1930s photo of New York Yankees Lou Gehrig and Babe Dahlgren. Taken during Spring Training in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Dahlgren is shown extending for a catch with the Iron Horse kneeling nearby in this posed shot. Something of a historic footnote, it was Dahlgren who replaced Gehrig in the Yanks lineup on May 2, 1939, ending the legendary consecutive games streak at 2,130. Measures 7.25x9" with creasing evident and a repaired tear at top border. Back has pencil notation identifying the content (partially obscured apparently by removed tape) along with stamping indicating that this is from the Brown Brothers collection. Encapsulated PSA Type I Authentic, also includes LOA.
