Mace, Heenan & Sayers Stone Lithograph (1862)

Mace, Heenan & Sayers Stone Lithograph (1862)

Jem Mace, John C. Heenan and Tom Sayers were three of the most celebrated bare knuckle heavyweights of the mid 19th century. Heenan and Sayers squared off in one of the best remembered and notable fights of all time in 1860. Offered here is an outstanding stone lithograph entitled, "Mace’s Challenge To Heenan & Sayers." This remarkable lithograph dates to 1862 and features the three men in period dress in a cameo configuration. This lithograph has some edge and corner wear and some soiling. It measures 21.5 x 26. This is an exceptionally rare offering from the bare knuckle era of boxing featuring three of the most important fighters of the era. This is one of the earliest lithographs we have seen in boxing.
