Magnificent 1927 Ottawa Senators Stanley Cup Championship Photograph
This magnificent photograph of the 1927 Ottawa Senators is overflowing with hockey history. Dubbed the "Super Six," the Senators teams from the 1920s were considered to be the NHL's first dynasty, having won four Stanley Cups during their run, though 1927 was fated to be their last. The team, true to its moniker, produced six Hall of Famers and all are present in the photo: Cy Denneny, Alex Connell, John "Jack" Adams, Frank "King" Clancy, Frank Nighbor and captain George Boucher. Also included are players Frank Finnigan, Hector Kilrea, Milton Halliday, Reginald Smith, Edwin Gorman and Alex Smith. An image of the Stanley Cup appears to the left of Senators owner Frank Ahearn, while the O'Brien Trophy, which is a retired trophy that was presented to the NHL champion from 1921 to 1927, appears on Ahearn's right. This Type I photograph with incredible graphics was likely only presented to players and VIPs and as such is exceedingly rare. Measures 16" x 12".
