Marciano & Dempsey Signed Boxing Collection (3)
Great vintage lot of signed items contains: 1. Rocky Marciano typed letter, dated September 14, 1963 on Rocky Marciano Enterprises letterhead (8.5x11”). Signature in black ballpoint grades “9” out of a possible 10. Letter reads in part: “…As for your question regarding my break up with Al Weill and my retirement, I think you basically know what the deal is there. Like I said after the fight at the press conference, if a guy Archie’s age can give me that much trouble in there, then I should think seriously about hanging up the gloves for good…You know as well as I do that the papers jumped on all that news about Norris and Weill and skimming the purses… Let’s just say I became very disgusted with the fight game after my fight with Cockell and I’m sure you know why…” Excellent condition with original mailing folds. 2. Vintage signed studio photo of Jack Dempsey (7.5x10”). Nice bold black fountain ink inscription and signature dated by Dempsey reads, “To my pal Mickey, with my good wishes, Jack Dempsey - Palace Chicago, Ill 9/6/32.” Ink grades 8-9 out of a possible 10. Photo with a small pinhole in each corner and tiny piece of bottom left corner torn off, but overall very nice in appearance with tremendous display appeal. Photo is stamped on back with photo credit to “Russell Ball” and “Harry Weber Attractions.” 3. Marcel Cerdan handkerchief with a silk-screened image of a smiling Marcel Cerdan with his name below. Handkerchief is 8x10”.
