Mickey Mantle and Joe DiMaggio Lot (11 Cards)

Mickey Mantle and Joe DiMaggio Lot (11 Cards)

Joltin’ Joe and The Mick roamed the cavernous expanses of centerfield at Yankee Stadium for more than 30 years. Regarded as two of the greatest players ever in the game, this lot features many great examples spanning both of their great careers. Joe DiMaggio is captured on the very scarce 1933-36 Zeenut Pacific Coast Minor League issue. This card, regarded as DiMaggio’s first ever card, is the “batting” version when Joe played for the San Francisco Seals and captures the “Yankee Clipper” in a classic follow-through pose. Interesting to note is that DiMaggio is actually misspelled as DeMaggio on Joe’s and his brother Dom’s cards in this series. The card grades G-VG with the coupon removed and has a .5” crimp just below the rope in the background on the left edge and a clean, print and stain-free back. It appears as though someone may have traced the perimeter, as there are hints of ink that bleed lightly into the card in some spots. Some of the other great DiMaggio cards in this lot include: 1936 World Wide Gum #51 (FAIR), 1938 Goudey #250 (VG), 1938 Goudey #274 (FAIR – Glue on back), Two (2) 1939 Playball #26 (1 NRMT which measures short L-R, and 1 GOOD), 1941 Double Play #63 (w/ #64 Keller VG-EX), 1948-49 Leaf #1 (GOOD). The Mantle group consists of 3 cards: 1962 Topps #200 (EX+), 1967 Topps #150 (EX), and 1968 Topps #280 (EX-MT).
