Mickey Mantle First Major League Home Run Program

Mickey Mantle First Major League Home Run Program

Mickey Mantle made his major league debut at Yankee Stadium on April 17, 1951, but it wouldn't be until exactly two weeks later before the "Commerce Comet" would bash the first of his 536 career home runs, doing so at Chicago's Comiskey Park on May 1. This White Sox program is signed by "The Mick" and inscribed No.7 in 10 out of 10 condition. It is dated in fountain pen on the cover: "5/1/51 Sox 3, Yankeees 8." The program is in VG-EX condition with a split spine and is scored neatly in pencil. Mantle batted leadoff that day and drove in three of the Yanks' eight runs (two via the long ball). It would take him just three days to hit #2 in St. Louis.
