Mid-1970s Mike Sensibaugh St. Louis Cardinals Game Worn Jersey
Displayed is a St. Louis Cardinals jersey from the 1970s that was game worn by safety Mike Sensibaugh. He was a first team All-American defensive back at Ohio State in 1970, and a key member of Ohio State's National Champions in 1968 and 1970. Sensibaugh teamed up at safety in the Ohio State defense with hard-hitting Jack Tatum. Sensibaugh holds the Ohio State career record for interceptions with 22 and the Ohio State single season record with nine. Sensibaugh was also a punter for the Buckeyes. In the NFL, Sensibaugh played 92 games over eight seasons, and he had 27 interceptions for 501 yards and two touchdowns. He was with the Kansas City Chiefs from 1971-75 and played for the St. Louis Cardinals from 1976-78. When Mike was on the Kansas City Chiefs, quarterback Len Dawson would often speak to Sensibaugh after practice to get a defensive back's take on Kansas City's offensive plays. The game worn St. Louis Cardinals mesh uniform is white, with red and black trim. All of the numbers on the jersey are screened. The front shows "20" in red with black trim. Each sleeve has a red "20 with red, white and black stripes. In some places, small parts of the aforementioned numerals show segments of the color missing from the numerals. The back shows "20" in red numerals with black trim. Some parts of the numeral "2"in the number "20" have come off or are missing particularly near the top of the "2" and on the right border of the "2." The bottom of the jersey has been trimmed to make it easier for Sensibaugh to wear the jersey. The jersey shows nice use. It comes from Mike Sensibaugh's estate.
