Mike Schmidt Game Worn Rookie Era Jacket
This terrific Philadelphia Phillies jacket was worn by Hall of Fame third baseman Mike Schmidt early in his career. A very rare style, the jacket features white "pleather" sleeves and a wool body, likely used during chilly April and September nights at the Vet in 1973 or 1974, the only years the Phils sported this jacket. A Wilson size 44 tag is in the collar, and there is marker writing, including a blurred number 20. The jacket shows use but is still in fine condition. It was kept in the mid-1970s by Schmidt's teammate, Greg Luzinski. A very prominent Phillies collector purchased this jacket along with other items from Luzinski in the early 1990s. A handwritten LOA from the collector is included.
