Monumental Pacific Coast League Baseball Photograph Collection (425+ images)

Monumental Pacific Coast League Baseball Photograph Collection (425+ images)

The finest collection of Pacific Coast League photographs ever sold if not one of the finest collections extant. The majority of these are oversized local SF Examiner prints hence they were only available from that source. In fact many of theses may be the only ones in existence. Many are from the 1920s and '30s. Highlights: several throwing out first pitches (Pants Rowland, Ralph McLean), 1920s Ren Kelly (4), 1920s Tim Hendryx (6), marvelous artwork piece with Fuzzy Hufft featuring white “Betsy” bat, Minnie Minoso hitting grand slam for San Diego, 1920s Buzz Arlett (17), George Hildebrand (9), Ray Kremer (5), Lefty O’Doul (2), Seals Stadium 1932 opener with Mayor Rossi and Police Chief Quinn, Vince Larry (2), fantastic Charley Graham images (5), comedians Andy Devine and Allen Jenkins (1939), Hal Rhyne (14), Curt Roberts 1955, Ed Rose (2), irate fan charges umpire (1954) (2), Ed Rose (2), super file of Ernie Johnson (10), great Frank Crosetti file (8), George Burns (8), Joe Kelly of the Seals (5), Seals owner Harry Krause, Joe Coscarat, Charlie Dressen, Don Gutteridge, Jimmy Byrnes as MC on 1939 Old Timers Day, Walt Droppo, Hollywood Stars owner Billy Lane as player in 1920s (4), Doc Crandall, Irish Meusel fantastic 1928 Oaks with original artwork, 1941 Harry Rosenberg (awesome!), Joe Devine, Cuban Carlos Bernier (2), last game at Oakland w/ Brick Laws 1955, Fuzzy Hufft (6) and so many more. Such oddities as 1934 Seals ball will be given to FDR, Joe Hatten ho-hitter, Ted Beard PCL hit record, Governor Warren throwing out first pitch with Joe E. Brown, death of Bill Sweeney, and more. All the great teams of the PCL are here: Portland Beavers, Salt Lake Bees, LA Angels, Hollywood Stars, San Francisco Seals, Sacramento Solons, Oakland Oaks, San Diego Padres, Mission Reds, Seattle Indians (to name a few), and many of the obscure team names and uniform styles that are just as obscure. Many by the great photographers like De Wan Studios, Carroll Photos & Leland Green. There are some smaller pieces and there is in-painting. Overall VG-EX condition and outstanding contrast. This is a one-in-lifetime opportunity to own the visual history of the PCL.
