Later to become known as "the Greatest of All Time," Cassius Clay was born in Louisville in 1942. But it wasn't until 1964 that he became one of the most controversial figures in the sport's history after joining the Nation of Islam and changing his name to Muhammad Ali. This item is part of his notes for a speech concerning his conversion and the 8x5" card is written in black marker, with a passage from the book "Message to the Blackman," stating, "according to the past histories of prophets and reformers, the very people to whom they were sent with the light as a truth were their rejectors and even their ENEMIES," followed by "knowledge of God" written in red ink. The card is in VG condition with creases while writing (all in his hand) is 7.5/10. JSA LOA. Also includes photograph believed to be from that speech.
