N690 Kalamazoo Bats Joseph Mulvey Philadelphia SGC 50
Many consider this issue to be one of the true zeniths of 19th century card collecting. Smashing design is purely a wave to the production of Carte-de-Visites (CdVs) as the opening salvo of baseball card production. This relatively high grade specimen boasts only one of a higher grade by SGC. Depicting Joseph Mulvey, a 12-year veteran of the bigs and esteemed member of the Allen & Ginter World Champions set, condition is marvelous with the front being a strong 7 and the back with only some minor spotting. Produced by Charles Gross & Co., the Philadelphia tobacconist, the Kalamazoo Bats was their flagship brand. There are six known cards in the set with the Pittsburgh card confirmed to be the rarest of all, with only four examples known.
