National Baseball Hall of Fame Presentational Plaque
Twenty-six years after he hung up his cleats, Red Schoendienst was inducted into Baseball's Hall of Fame by the Veterans Committee in 1989. Upon his enshrinement, the switch-hitting second baseman was presented with this miniature version of his actual Cooperstown plaque. It reads: "ALBERT FRED SCHOENDIENST "RED" ST. LOUIS, N.L., 1945-18956, 1961-1963 NEW YORK, N.L., 1956-1957 MILWAUKEE, N.L., 1957-1960 ROOMMATE STAN MUSIAL CREDITED HIM WITH "GREATEST PAIR OF HANDS I'VE EVER SEEN." SLEEK, FAR-RANGING SECOND BASEMAN FOR 18 SEASONS, LED N.L. IN FIELDING AND HIT .300 OR BETTER SEVEN TIMES. WHEN ELECTED IN 1989 HAD WORN MAJOR LEAGUE UNIFORM 45 CONSECUTIVE SEASONS AS PLAYER, COACH AND MANAGER, PILOTING REDBIRDS TO WORLD SERIES IN 1967 AND 1968, 14TH INNING HOMER WON 1950 ALL-STAR GAME FOR N.L. (C) 1989 NBHOF." The bronze plaque on wood background measures 6" x 8" and is in NRMT condition. It comes with its original velvet case stamped with the Hall of Fame Logo.
