Nellie Fox's 1959 Chicago White Sox Black Bat (Fox Family Letter)

Nellie Fox's 1959 Chicago White Sox Black Bat (Fox Family Letter)

This is the black bat presented to Nellie Fox by Hillerich & Bradsby in 1959 for winning the AL pennant. The bats were given to players and executives of both league champions, and that year Fox was a standout on the Chicago White Sox, even winning his league's MVP Award. The bat is NM with only a few very light surface scratches and comes with a signed LOA from the Fox family. The "Go Go" White Sox won their first pennant since the "Black Sox" scandal of 1919 and it would be their last until 2005. Despite boasting several eventual Hall of Famers, the '59 Sox fell to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series four games to two. The bat lists the names and signatures of the White Sox squad on the barrel, with the familiar Hillerich & Bradsby Louisville Slugger closer to the center.
